Mobile Design and Development

A domain industry veteran wants to design and launch a domain registry exclusively for mobile devices that focused on user experience…

Client Need:

A domain industry veteran needed help in designing and launching a domain registry exclusively for mobile devices that focused on user experience.

Approach:

The challenge revolved around helping to define a brand and design a compelling and interactive experience for a global audience. With most of the Board Members being located in Ireland and having such big brands as Microsoft, Nokia and Google as investors, keeping all these interests focused on the bigger picture was a constant challenge.

Outcome:

The results were a successful launch of the brand and web site (both wired and wireless) in February 2006. Since that date more than 500,000 domain names have been registered.

Online Community for Grassroots Political Campaign
A grassroots advocacy group needed an online community to help educate and mobilize supporters to pass legislation in the state legislature...

Client Need:
A grassroots advocacy group needed an online community to help educate and mobilize supporters to pass legislation in the state legislature.

Approach:
We built and managed a website dedicated to the issue, recruited supporters to sign up on the site and then managed the internet communications with them throughout the legislative cycle.  We ran an online petition, hosted a discussion forum, posted news and alerts on the site, and promoted events.  MITA also promoted the client’s cause through social networking sites and blogs related to the issue.

Outcome:
We made over 10,000 individual email impressions with supporters asking them to take some action on behalf of the cause.  The site serves as a crucial vehicle for the group to get its message out as well as the location for supporters to gather for news, alerts, and discussion on the issue.

Online Community for Entertainment Company
An entertainment company wanted to promote its client’s activities on a popular television reality show…

Client Need:
An entertainment company wanted to promote its client’s activities on a popular television reality show by creating an interactive community of supporters on the Internet.

Approach:
MITA built the community site and then used a combination of email, SMS, and social networking activities to promote and solicit votes for the client.  We supplied some of the content for the site but allowed supporters to create the majority of it through blogs, discussion, and photo submissions.  We also seeded and monitored related social networking sites, blogs, and discussion forums to recruit and direct activities of potential and committed supporters.  Finally, we deployed an RSS-fed web “widget” hosted on complimentary/affiliated sites.

Outcome:

The community increased almost 4x the size of the original fan club membership in just five weeks.  The site was highly interactive with over 33% of users posting or otherwise contributing to content and nearly 1,200 user-generated articles produced over 30,000 page views.
